The Checkout Gets Picked Up

Integer’s new retail research newsletter, The Checkout, a collaboration with M/A/R/C Research, is beginning to gain some traction within the industry.This month we have been picked up by various media publications, includingDrug Store News. The article titled “Opportunity For Drug Chains Lies InUpgrading” Sourced data from the Checkout to support its observations that American shoppers are purchasing less across all categories at drug stores for the convenience of mass-merchant or grocery pharmacy. “In addition to trip consolidation, 44% of respondents reported that discount or loyalty programs have prompted them to relocate their pharmacy business.” The article cites Andrew Morse who argues that pharmacy operators have a few options to stave off consumer erosion saying, “As more monthly customers seek discounted prescription alternatives, one thing to do is reinforce the role of the drug chain as a trusted health advisor, not just a place to drop off and pick up prescriptions.”
