As plastic is moves into focus for lawmakers and the public, brands have started to bring new solutions to more aware and activist shoppers. While retailers like Tesco and hotel chains like Marriott are actively banning plastic, others are now feeling pressure to finally act and create more sustainable and ethical products. Embracing this challenge can open up possibilities for new and exciting innovations that not only drive commerce but make a difference in the world.
For example, beverage company Diageo has announced a range of edible straws that allow people to enjoy their drinks plastic-free. The straws will come in 4 flavors including lemon, lime, strawberry, and chocolate, each complementing a drink in the company’s portfolio and by that, turning the plastic problem into an interesting and exciting solution for shoppers.
