Making Grocery Shopping Fun
Tuesday, February 25th, 2020
New York-based, Pop Up Grocer has expanded to the West Coast, setting up its first shop in Venice, California. Described as a traveling pop-up grocery store, Pop Up Grocer is a health food market that features natural food products from emerging food and wellness brands.
In a world where shoppers have to choose between a traditional grocery retailer experience, navigating through an overwhelming array of endless products, or feeling self-conscious about knowing the difference between the health benefits of a protein elixir and a multi-green kombucha at a health foods market, Pop Up Grocer strikes a happy balance. While the products they carry are curated with health and sustainability in mind, the difference you’ll experience shopping at Pop Up Grocer is that it’s fun.
Pop Up Grocer delivers on the shopping behaviors of the cultural trend of “Playsumerism” (people seeking enjoyable experiences in store) and the phenomenon of “the phone eats first” (food photography culture). The store setup invites exploration, with clear, simplistic wayfinding through products with beautifully designed packaging, perfect for capturing on Instagram. The zine stand, fresh baked goods from a local bakery, coffee, and couch lounge area adds to the relaxed and pleasant grocery shopping experience. You won’t find a sad boyfriend chair in this store.
While temporary, Pop Up Grocer is grounded in the benefits of having a physical space to spark product discovery in a friendly, inviting space during the day and hosting
After-hours events at night. They aim to foster a community where like-minded people can connect and enjoy health conscious foods.
